Flexible laminates are used in a wide range of application for electric generator and electric motors. The materials are thin, reliable, flexible and covers different thermal class of applications.
NMN
Thanks to Dupont Nomex(R), the manufacturing of thin insulation material became possible, NMN has change the complete structure of electrical insulation. The three layer structure of Nomex-Mylar(PET)-Nomex offer the electrical insulation with possibility of going lower than 0.2mm, excellent mechanical property with high electrical property allows NMN became an ideal insulator in a variety of situations.
NMNMSi
One specific application for large generator applications, the slots are usually long and narrow. NMNMSi is a structure of Nomex-Mylar(PET)-Nomex-PET coated with silicon. This specific design allow the coils are insert to the slot easier due to the silicon coating, at the same time, the outer layer of PET coated with silicon protects the core insulator from damaging during the insert to the slot.
NM
Same to the NMN, the structure of NM is a two layers insulator with Nomex-Mylar, which normally used in lower temperature and lower voltage system.
NPN
PET foils has already offers great property in most common cases, even NMN are usually ranged from thermal class F/H, but during machine design, the safer it goes, the better it is. This is when Polyimide(Pi) comes into the picture. Pi foil does not necessarily offers better mechanical property, but the Pi foil does offer better electrical and thermal property for the final product. It is a guaranteed a thermal class H material when we upgrade from NMN to NPN.
NPNMSi
As machine designed are going bigger and with more heat generated. The structure of NPNMSi came into the picture. In machines with requires insert of large coils and will constantly working are the temperature around 155 degree celsius, it is preferable to use materials at this level to guarantee a long term use of the machine.
NP
This structure is not commonly used in many cases, this is normally required by clients with specific demand.
DMD
DMD has been categorised as a class F material which has a wide range of applications. A structure of Fleece-PET-Fleece offer the material has a great impregnation during VIP process.
AMA
Applying Dupont materials is a wise idea due to the reliability and brand. But the cost of such materials are usually higher than other materials. An application of aramid paper from MetaStar(R) came into the picture. The material offers the similar property from Dupont Nomex(R). AMA has a same structure from NMN, Aramid-PET-Aramid, this grants the similar application as NMN materials.
AMAMSi
Same as NMNMSi, the structure AMAMSi offers the similar property as compare to NMNMSi.
